The beginnings
My first trip abroad at the age of 18 took me to Santorini. I couldn’t have started my travels in a more beautiful and breathtaking place. This little Greek island became a defining spot in my life. I instantly fell in love with the blue-and-white churches and the Mediterranean Sea. You could hardly get me out of the water—even though, to this day, I still can’t swim.
At that time, I couldn’t even imagine that one day I would be able to read these “hieroglyphs”—let alone speak this fascinating language. But life is unpredictable. Ten years later, I was living in Crete, just a few meters from my sea.
I lived in several places in Greece: in Crete (Hersonissos, Elounda), in Athens, and in Northern Greece, in Orestiada. During this time, I experienced what it’s like to live as a foreigner in another country.
